Major Verifications on HIUs in New Construction
Checks on Installation
- The proper model/type of HIU was installed according to the design spec
- Verify proper pipework connections (flow/return, DHW/cold water in/out)
- Proper electrical and control wiring was installed and identified
- Access for proper maintenance in the future (HIUs not boxed in)

Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar. The Big Oxmox advised her

How We Operate
Under the conditions of a new build property, HIU validations involve a series of checks, tests, and documentation to ascertain that the HIU has been correctly installed, commissioned, and operating securely and efficiently as part of a building’s heat network system. HIUs play key roles in communal or district heating systems where they transfer heat from a central plant to the various apartments or units.
Pressure test the primary and secondary sides (normally up to 6 bar or as specified by the manufacturer) to check there are no leaks.
Bleed air from the system. Establish flow rates and temperatures (e.g. DHW at 55-60°C, space heating as designed by system). Set control settings (room thermostat, programmers, etc.). Test the functional operation of DHW and space heating performance. Calibrate heat meters if equipped.
Optional but employed in some projects to ensure heat supply is uniform and valves are working properly.
Ensures the meter is recording data properly (particularly critical for billing purposes in tenant accommodation). More likely to require MID-approval (Measuring Instruments Directive).
Should be properly insulated pipework for all pipework. Valves and pipework should be adequately labeled to identify them.
Signature on commissioning sheet submitted. The O&M (Operation and Maintenance) guide has been updated with HIU information. Manufacturer's certification (CE, WRAS approval, etc.).
